What to visit when sailing around Aegean Islands

Chios

Chios is the fifth largest of the Greek islands, located in the Aegean Sea, 7 kilometers off the Anatolian coast, and separated from Turkey by the Chios Strait. No one who loves the sea could ever leave Chios dissatisfied. Known as the mastic-scented island with fascinating history, Chios is one of the most beautiful jewels of Greece. The main reasons why this island is frequently visited by many yachtsmen are its medieval villages and the 11th-century monastery of Nea Moni, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Chios also has other places worth visiting, places like settlement of Kampos and “the Mystras of the Aegean Sea” the village Anavatos. With great seaside tourism and remarkable beaches like Ormos tou Lo and Tagma, Chios is a dream destination for yachtsmen.

Samos

Samos is a Greek island in the Aegean Sea and off the coast of Asia Minor. Known as The island of Hera and Pythagoras, Samos is an island ruled by legend and beauty. One of the biggest attractions this island has to offer is the largest temple in Greece at the seaside settlement of Heraion. Yachtsmen find Samos to be one of the most unique islands in the world because there is something new to experience at every step. Mt. Kerkis and Mt. Ambelos are great for hiking, while Sarakini Tower, a magnificent structure of the 16th century, and Agia Zoni, with its splendid library, are more suited for those who love to explore. Since Samos is an island with a century-old culture and a great wine culture, yachtsmen simply can´t stay away from Samos and its magic.
